Netflix Shake Up Shocks Everyone – Cindy Holland Departs

Netflix saw some surprising shake up since the joining of new co-CEO Ted Sarandos. The newly appointed let go of Cindy Holland from the team. Cindy has been the vice president of original content department for the past eighteen years for the giant streaming platform. On the other hand, Bella Bajaria, who was overseeing local-language production will now lead as vp global television.

The move came after several complains regarding too many people handling Netflix television department. The creators did not know where to and whom to pitch their ideas and project. The move by Ted was to ensure that the department has a single leader like global film department has vp Scott Stuber.

Ted spoke highly of Cindy Holland and his tough decision. He thanked Holland for being an impeccable colleague and helping the platform launch English original shows like ‘The Crown’ and ‘Orange Is The New Black’. Talking about Bajaria, he said that she has a lot of versatility and creativity.

Bajaria joined Netflix in 2016 after being let go from the Universal TV as president. She looked after TV and film licensing and reported directly to Ted. Later, she looked after local-language programming for Netflix’s international market. Bajaria was courted by NBCUniversal to oversee entertainment programming for their new platform Peacock. Bajaria has credits of bringing shows like ‘You’, ‘The Mindy Project’, ‘Bates Motel’ and more to streaming platforms.
